Steinel Heat Gun good enough for amateur roofing work
I am building a house and decided to use PVC membrane roofing on part of it. This type of roofing needs to have the seams welded together using a hot-air heat gun. I looked at the brands/models that professionals use and thought them to be way too expensive at over $400. This Steinel heat gun said it put out the same temperature and airflow as the expensive brands but was only about $150. It is really a general purpose heat gun primarily intended for welding and shaping Plexiglass for hobby (I guess). It worked okay on the roofing and I got the job done, but I am rating it 4 stars because of a couple of minor items. For one, I had to buy a different nozzle than the ones it came with in order to do roof membrane welding (that's not the gripe because I knew I would have to up front). I bought a "universal" nozzle that was supposed to fit "most" heat guns. It did not fit the Steinel (that's the gripe) and I had to make extensive modifications to the nozzle and use a hose clamp to...
