Not repairable sadly
I got one of these from my wife for Christmas a few years ago, I really like it. The only downside is that the desoldering gun uses the same connector as the soldering iron so you can either be desoldering, or soldering, but not both. I have a Weller iron that I use when I'm doing both, acting as my soldering iron.

However recently it lost a few segments in the LED display, this means that I can't reliably tell what temperature it is set for, and its 'clicky' buttons are not reliable enough for me to just "count presses" to know I've set it to the right temp. I've been trying to find a way to repair it but neither the guys who sold it to me (Amazon's vendor) or Aoyue can offer anything, not even replacement parts. The advice I got was "buy another one, they aren't too expensive." That contrasts with Metcal irons which, while expensive, you can repair them and lots of people do.

I am currently in the process of completely gutting and remodeling my house and was in need of some updated tools so I decided to try out the new Dewalt 20v. My main job is doing irrigation work for agricultural applications and am an amateur carpenter so I know my way around a power tool.

All of your pressure has to be on the fromt handle with only the trigger pulled on the top handle. When I inspected this failure more closely, the back of the shoe has nearly 1/2" of up and down movement that correlates to less than perfect cuts.

I picked one of these up a couple of months ago to install some crown molding. I don't have any complaints. P/C makes good tools, and this one is no exception. Nice performance for a such small tool
First of all, I'd like to state that this is Dremel 7000 tool, which is to be used with AA batteries. Certain reviewers confuse it with Dremel 7300, which uses rechargeable batteries. So, this tool was not designed to charge batteries in it, why to seek a charger for it, and complain for it's non existence?

Regarding the tool itself, initially I was a bit sceptical about it's power, considering the voltage. When I tried it in work, I was pretty amazed. Believe or not, power is almost same as my corded one! Of course, set of batteries won't make you going whole day, in fact, it won't last you even a half of an hour, but, you can toss in rechargeables and keep yourself going. Please note, with plain 1.2V NiCD or NiMH rechargeables, this tool performs very poorly, due to low voltage. I'm using NiZN rechargeables with it (1.6V), and they work flawlessly!

Overal, very nice tool for it's price. Of course, the plastic quality and build quality is not pro grade, but...

We bought two of these Makita refurbished drills not knowing what to expect. We bought them for the hammer action and the depth rod which is feature omitted on DeWalt, Milwaukee, and most Bosch hammer drills. When we opened the cases we found that parts were missing, like the depth control rod, and that one of the chargers would not work.

It took awhile to get the parts back and we had to mail the defective charger back to Makita. The drills now work but I would not buy a refurbished drill from Makita in the future.

Power is good though not as good as with the Milwaukee 2611 or the DeWalt DCD970 hammer drills and the Makita chucks tend to blow out in less than a year of use. Some of this could be due to how they are used but we do not have the problem with the Milwaukee and DeWalt drills.

Beware of the quick charging as the manual states that the batteries should have a 60 minute cool down interval after charging and should be left on the charger while...

I've had the Powermatic 25" drum sander for about a month now. It replaced a Grizzley 24" drum sander. It is a step up in quality and performance but also in price. I understand that Powermatic simply put their name on what was a Performax sander model. Both companies are owned by the same group along with Jet. The machine was accurate right out of the box. It performs nicely. I have to say though that the finish results using equivalent sandpaper grits is about the same as the Grizzly. The difference is the Powermatic is very heavy duty with nice fit and finish. It weighs in at about twice that of the Grizzly and doesn't complain when you inadvertantly try and sand a little too much in one pass, though that isn't recommended. I do recommend this machine highly but if you are a little more wealthy and have 3 phase electrical, go to a large belt sander. I don't have 3 phase or the other part right now so I am getting along quite well with the drum sander.

After spending countless hours on the internet reading many reviews, this is the dust collector I bought. Although I did not buy it from Amazon I thought this review would help others currently in the market. I got mine from Woodcraft for $299. I think Lowes and Home Depot can get them also. Do a little shopping and then turn companies against each other by price matching. You'll save about 10% off your lowest price. Back to the actual review.

I talked to the guys at Woodcraft. They advised it would be an excellent garage shop DC. But don't expect to put a 20ft 4" hose on it and get great collection. It's designed for a 10ft 4" hose. That doesn't sound like a lot, but I can put the DC in the center of my garage and reach all four corners.

I wanted a small shop vac for little projects from room to room (I manage a motel). This was on sale for $20 at my local ACE Hardware and thought it would be perfect. WRONG! Trust me... all it takes is a bit of a tilt or a jolt and the ball pops up and you have to turn it off, let it sink back down, before you can start vacuuming again.
